![]() Recently I attended the meeting for qualified contractors to learn about the city of Phoenix's new program called Energize Phoenix. As part of the federal governments program focused on green initiatives the city has won a twenty five million dollar grant to upgrade the energy efficacy of homes and businesses along the light rail corridor. The program has six million dollars to invest in private homes that are interested in energy upgrades to their homes. The hotel was designed by the architect that designed several of the historic buildings at the Grand Canyon. ![]() This year my company has joined the growing group of professionals that analyze our homes for energy performance. Both myself and my production director Shonn Bell have completed our training and certifications with the Building Performance Institute as Building Analyst. The Building Performance Institute is a national non-profit organization dedicated to setting the professional standards and training in the field of building science. Their goal is to enable professionals to test and evaluate homes for energy performance. I have known about this process for years, I decided to become certified and invest in the tools as a result of my education in building science from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and the USGBC. My goal as a remodeler has always been to improve my clients home performance as well as it's looks and function.
